About

John Holland has long had an eye for design and the free-flowing creativity of an artist. Since 1969 he has been bringing life, color, and his unique vision to the West Coast, and beyond. One day, while attending college and working part-time at a paint store, he was presented with the opportunity to produce a series of murals for a restaurant on the Santa Cruz boardwalk, and something just clicked. Since then, John has created many murals, ranging from the “supergraphics” of the 70’s and 80’s, to the traditional style seen nowadays. John is a multi-talented artist who can effortlessly transition from painting a believable landscape of a Tuscan vineyard to a marble-like faux finish on a formed concrete fireplace surround.
After graduating, John became the Manager of Artists Materials (retail, wholesale and custom framing) for a company with a chain of stores in San Diego county. He later established a successful graphic design firm until offered the opportunity to set-up and manage a corporate design studio. He did this for over 10 years, designing advertising and packaging, as well as designing wallpaper (collections and custom). He holds a BA and a MA from San Diego State, and he was an adjunct instructor at San Diego Community College and Lake Tahoe Community College.
